Barnsley A completed the double over Clay Cross with another win. Both teams fielded weaker sides than in the previous weeks match.
The match was a lot tighter than the final score suggests.
White on board two lost misplaying a rook ending a pawn up with the better game. Board three was agreed drawn just before the first time control with both players short of time. Post game analysis showed that black could win a pawn though there was still lots of play in the position. Gary on board four won on time material up in a rook and pawn ending though it was not clear that the final position was won.
Barnsley already had points in the bag when board six was agreed drawn. Andy on top board won material which led to victory. Ken won a piece on board seven and with his opponents help swapped other pieces to obtain a won ending. White on bottom board withstood blacks pressure to reach a level position before blundering to knight forks. Dave, white on board five also won to complete the win.
