The club where your moves matter
Following the success of the first Barnsley Blitz, Barnsley Chess Club is organizing
a second Barnsley Blitz event by popular demand.
The event will take place on Monday 10th May 2010 at Birdwell Methodist Church.
Team registration is from 7pm with the first round starting promptly at 7.30pm.
The format is a ten minute four player team event.
Each team should consist of four players from the same club.
Each team player will have 10 minutes to complete their game.
Depending on team entries, this year we are hoping to have 3 sections of 6 teams.
Teams will be split into sections according to strength using the average team grade.
In each section the winning team will recieve a chess clock.
Returnable salvers and awards will be presented to the winning teams and individuals with the highest
scores in each section.
There is a limit of 18 teams.
Entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis
The closing date for entries is Friday the 30th April 2010.
There is an entry fee of £12 per team.
If accepted a late entry fee of £3 per team will apply for entries taken after the closing date.
Team Entries are invited from local chess clubs. Initially each club can enter two teams.
You can enter by email or by post.
More details are given in the entry forms in
word and
pdf formats.
We will permit entries from individuals before the closing date who provide grading and club details.
Where possible these individuals will be allocated teams by the organisers if there are less than 18 club teams
after the closing date.
Alternatively you can email the event secretary Tony Farrell here.
Funds permitting it is intended to make a small donation to the Exodus Project to help local under privileged children.
We hope to see you again if you attended last years Barnsley Blitz,
if not then why not give this fun event a try and support a worthy cause in the progress.
Remember to get your entries in early to avoid disappointment !
